PJ Wet Candle Vigil 2/11/08

Posted by: kkitsam on: November 3, 2008

Rain rain rains. Wet wet wets. Despite heavy rains, 200 peoples turn out in supports of the weekly vigil at PJ Amcorp Mall. Even YB Lau Weng San defies the rains to be with the Rakyat. We might be wet but it’s burning hot inside us.

It starts to rain very early, from 4 pm at Kajang until when I go out around 6.30pm it is still raining. With this kind of weather, i’m really afraid there are no people this week. Called my friend Joomanji early to assured him, rains or not I’ll be there. When I reach the field, a group of people has gathered, with both Zorro & Haris moving around thanking everyone who braves the rain to be here.

Marina as usual keeps us update on RPK and she also talk on RPK’s habeas corpus coming up on 7/11/08 (this Friday) at the Shah Alam High Court (4th floor). RPK told Marina that if he is set free this Friday, he will join us on this vigil starts from the Friday night at Seremban to call for an end of ISA as well as free the other ISA detainees.

Haris reminds us that come one day, there will be people who said our gathering is melampau, but remember, we are just practicing our rights. His friend asked him, there seems to be a lack of malays coming to these vigil, to this he said NO, I don’t see any malay, I don’t see any chinese, I don’t see any indians, all I see is Anak Bangsa Malaysia.

Haris then invites others to speak. The first to come;

This lady told us to have some fun. She leads us to shout No To ISA & Free RPK in a different way while dancing with our umbrellas..

YB Lau Weng San said that tonight is also the DAP Deepavali Open House, but he told his colleagues that he wants to come here PJ vigil first before he joins them. They told him that Raining la, most probably no people la. But he insisted, to come to PJ first, and he is glad to again see a large turn out even though it rains.

Zorro then take over and asked us “Are we prepared to continue this even with them, without Marina, who will be organizing vigils at other places”, and to this the crowds roars back YES!!!

Haris then invite those who have been attending every vigil since it first started.

I’ve been here with my family every week, and I see the numbers are roughly the same every week, I think we needs the heavyweights to come, like Anwar Ibrahim. We definitely need more peoples.

To this, Haris rebutted, we are the VIP, we the Rakyat Anak Bangsa Malaysia are the VIP. We are going to do this ourself!!

Next was a first timer, not even malaysian. we have Mr Andre from Netherland;

I have read Malaysia Today before and comes to Malaysia a few times, this country has now become dear to me. Back in Netherland, people just take freedom for granted, but i know some people just have to fight for their freedom. Malaysia is one of them, but keep on fighting because this is the right thing to do!!!

another first timer, a young Malaysian;

I’M PROUD TO BE MALAYSIAN!!!

Then we have a Singaporean who marries a Malaysian, Stephen also read Malaysia Today, and tonight he comes from Singapore because he believes in what RPK did. He thinks that the existing law is good enough and doesn’t need the ISA to arrest anyone without trial. He ends it with ‘I just love this bald guy name RPK!!!

This uncle only has a short message Keep ISA for those PARIAH BN !!!

Again Haris stood out to rebut it, ISA is too unfair that it shouldn’t be used against anyone, even on enemy. It should be abolish, we can think of other ways to deal with those BN PARIAH.

After that Sivin, a Christian spoke “i believes that ISA is against the religion and human rights”. He said ISA sounds like Isa (Jesus) and he doesn’t want it to be related with anything about Jesus.

The rain gets heavier, but I know deep down inside everyone of us, it’s burning hot. ISA is an outdated and over abused law that existed until today to preserve those in power. It can be used against anyone, politically motivated, or just in RPK’s case to silence someone. To keep away those who knows too much and in return guards those in power with their wrongdoings, murders, corruptions etc

It’s time for us, rakyat to stand up and fight against ISA else our PM & Home Minister will regard us as the 80% silent majority who agrees with the ISA. Please everyone, do not worries about rains, we have a strong 200-300 peoples who turns out every week, come rain or storm, be there. Why should a few drops of water bother you anyway?

Hi there love birds,

Nice to see you again. I must say. I salute for your
passion and walk for the truth.

I really would like to learn from you, how on earth
did you managed to get names of all the speakers?
Being a amateur myself, I find it a challenge to do
that. Keep up the good work. I like your posting.

Cheers,
rakyat@work

Hi! I’m Joo’s gf. I’d also like to salute you for your detailed coverage. I wonder how you do it and asked Joo if you had taken notes that day and he said no. I think I know the answer, and that’s the fire burning in you that gives you the strength and the zeal to keep going strong with the talent that you’re blessed with.

Hope I can join in the vigil when i go bck to Malaysia, and that RPK will be already joining us to protest against the ISA!

Very nicely put! I enjoyed reading this.

:)
