Malaysia’s tourism ambassador, anyone?

THE Tourism Ministry has offered to pay former Ferrari Formula One team boss Datuk Seri Jean Todt RM1 million to serve as the country’s tourism ambassador.

And yesterday, Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Ng Yen Yen defended the sum involved following criticism in the Dewan Rakyat by Parti Keadilan Rakyat member of parliament for Gombak, Azmin Ali.

She said since Todt, who was appointed last month, was serving and promoting the country on a voluntary basis, it was only fair that the government covered his expenses.

“Just because he is volunteering his services, you cannot expect him to pay out of his own pocket.

“This budget is not for his personal use, it is for the expenses incurred when he meets top people from television and the media.

Besides, RM1 million in Europe gets you nothing nowadays,” she said at the Parliament lobby.

Wow i didn’t know that being a tourism ambassador for Malaysia can be a millionaire. If this is not the best paid job, then what else is, but i bet it would surely be something to do with the Tourism Ministry!!! I really wouldn’t mind to have Jean Todt as our ambassador, but RM 1,000,000? On top of that, he serves on VOLUNTARY BASIS, i doubt there’s anyone out there will agree with Ng Yen Yen. Didn’t voluntary means serves with own will without the thought of money? Since the ministry is good to sukarelawan then why not help those who serves the community. There’s more out there who needs the money more than a millionaire.

“RM1 million in Europe gets you nothing nowadays”

Really? i don’t know and i bet many Malaysians don’t know either coz never in our lifetime did we get a MILLION not to say the chance to go to Europe!!!

Out of the RM 1 million, RM 388,000  is for Todt’s  holiday package in Malaysia. Is this a joke? Since when do we pay a tourist for visiting our country!!!! and if this is Todt’s second home, then he shouldn’t be paid for going back home!!! How come the government is so generous when it comes to foreigner compared to many more hardcore poverty Malaysian?

Seriously, is Ng Yen Yen’s brain malfunction caused by cyanide in her DUN.
